Description
Care & Seasoning

Before your first use

  • Every piece ships pre-seasoned with vegetable oil, but a quick re-season before first use builds an even stronger, more durable surface
  • Rinse with warm water only — no soap needed on the very first wash
  • Dry completely, then rub a thin, even layer of cooking oil over the entire surface
  • Heat on low-medium flame for 5 minutes, let cool, and it's ready to cook

After every use

  • Clean with warm water and a soft brush or sponge — avoid soap and steel wool, which strip the seasoning
  • Dry immediately and thoroughly on low heat to prevent rust — cast iron should never air-dry
  • Apply a light coat of oil while the pan is still slightly warm, then wipe off any excess

Building seasoning over time

  • Seasoning strengthens with regular use — the more you cook, the more naturally non-stick it becomes
  • If food starts sticking or the surface looks dull or patchy, simply repeat the seasoning steps above
  • A little rust on the surface is normal and easily fixed — scrub gently, dry fully, and re-season; it doesn't mean the pan is damaged

Good to know

  • Avoid cooking highly acidic foods (like tomato-heavy curries) for extended periods until seasoning is well-built up
  • Store in a dry place; a thin film of oil before storing prevents moisture buildup

Spatula slides flat under dosas from any angle - zero rim to tear edges

The edgeless design is pure genius. On traditional tawas with raised lips, my steel spatula would constantly clatter against the edge, gouging into the rim and tearing the delicate lace edge of my roast dosas. With this completely rimless tawa, the spatula glides flat across the entire 28cm plane from any direction. My dosas release in one unbroken golden sweep like restaurant paper roast.

Phulkas puff up like round balloons without dry pale spots

We make chapatis twice every single day. On lightweight aluminium tawas, chapatis develop burnt black spots while the surrounding dough remains half-cooked and chewy. The 2.6kg solid cast iron base of this EVVOLIFE tawa radiates gentle, penetrating thermal heat. When I flip the roti, it puffs up like a balloon across its entire diameter. The chapatis stay soft and tender until evening.

100% of the 28cm diameter is usable - made massive 11-inch parathas

On tawas with raised borders, the outer 1.5 inches are practically wasted because you can't flatten food against the sloping lip. With this edgeless tawa, the full 28cm surface is completely flat and functional. I can roll large Punjabi stuffed aloo and paneer parathas right to the perimeter, press the edges flat with a wooden press, and get uniform golden browning end to end.

Easiest tawa to clean - zero corner grooves for grease to hide

Cleaning traditional rimmed tawas is a nuisance because sticky burnt oil and dosa batter residue always accumulate in the curved corner where the flat surface meets the rim. Because this tawa is 100% flat with zero crevices, a quick swipe with a sponge or flat scraper removes everything in five seconds. It stays immaculate and hygienic with minimal effort.

Sits flush on my induction cooktop with zero rocking or vibrations

I was tired of warped tawas that spun like spinning tops on my smooth ceramic induction glass. This EVVOLIFE edgeless tawa has a heavy, precision-machined flat base. It sits completely flush on the induction zone, heats with zero humming noise, and distributes heat evenly across all 28 centimeters. Induction cooking perfection.

Layered laccha parathas get extraordinarily flaky and crisp

The secret to a great layered laccha paratha is intense, even contact heat that crisps each laminated layer without drying out the interior. In this 2.6kg pan, the ghee sizzles between the folds and browns the spirals to a crackling golden crunch. When you crush the paratha between your palms after taking it off, the layers separate like pastry.

Dual loop handles make moving the 2.6kg weight completely balanced

Single long-handle tawas can cause wrist fatigue when they weigh 2.5kg+, especially when tilting or lifting. The dual loop handles on this tawa allow a firm, balanced two-handed grip with silicone potholders. Moving it from stove to trivet feels solid and safe, with no risk of accidental wrist twisting.

French crepes and pancakes slide right off onto the serving plate

My daughter loves thin French sweet crepes on Sunday mornings. With no rim in the way, I slide a thin crepe turner right underneath and tilt the pan — the crepe slides directly onto the plate without folding or tearing. The browning is gorgeous, with that classic lacy golden pattern.

Crispy Chettinad ghee roast dosa - better than local restaurant

We love Madurai-style crispy ghee roast dosa. I spread the fermented batter thin, drizzled homemade ghee, and let the cast iron work its magic. The dosa turned a glorious deep amber red, peeled itself off the iron surface naturally, and rolled into a crisp cylindrical cone. My family was stunned by the restaurant-quality finish.

Replaced our scratched non-stick tawa - 100% chemical free

We had been using a branded Teflon tawa that started showing micro-scratches and peeling coating after just eight months. Knowing our daily rotis were touching synthetic chemicals was scary. Upgrading to this pure pre-seasoned cast iron tawa gives us healthy, chemical-free food every day, plus natural bio-available iron.

Gujarati methi theplas cook soft and stay fresh for 3 days of travel

I made 40 methi theplas for our family train journey from Ahmedabad to Haridwar. Because this cast iron tawa sears the surface evenly without sapping all the internal moisture, the theplas stayed remarkably soft, pliable, and flavorful for three full days packed in foil without turning stiff or brittle.

Thermal mass holds steady through 15 back-to-back chapatis

Thin aluminium or steel tawas cool down the moment a cool chapati hits the surface, making cooking a frustrating start-and-stop chore. This 2.6kg iron pan holds so much thermal energy that chapati number 15 cooks just as fast and puffs just as aggressively as chapati number 2. Breakfast is done in half the time.

Maharashtrian jowar and bajra bhakri flattened directly on the tawa

In our Solapur style of cooking, bajra bhakri needs a steady, hot, rim-free surface where you can pat the dough and rotate it with your fingers and water without bumping knuckles on a rim. This edgeless tawa is built exactly like our traditional iron tawas back home. The bhakri roasted to a rustic, blistered perfection.

Zero sticking on the very first dosa - factory seasoning is legit

I was mentally prepared to sacrifice the first couple of dosas to build seasoning. But after a quick warm water rinse and light wipe of sesame oil, my very first plain dosa spread smoothly, crisped up evenly, and lifted cleanly from edge to center without tearing. EVVOLIFE's factory seasoning with organic oil is genuinely superior.

Sunny-side-up fried eggs slide right onto toast with no spatula acrobatics

With rimmed pans, trying to scoop out a fragile sunny-side-up egg often breaks the runny yolk against the side wall. Because this tawa has zero edge, I simply angle the pan over a slice of toasted sourdough and the egg glides right off effortlessly with its yolk perfectly intact. Weekend breakfast made elegant.

Andhra pesarattu with ginger pachadi - crispy and golden

Whole green gram moong batter (pesarattu) requires high, even contact heat to crisp up without becoming dry or leathery. This tawa cooks pesarattu to a rich golden crunch on the bottom while the raw chopped onions and green chillies on top get gently warmed. Authentic Andhra breakfast flavor right in Delhi.

Stovetop naan with garlic butter - restaurant char marks at home

Rolled yeasted naan dough, applied water to one side, and pressed it against the scorching hot cast iron. It stuck just enough to puff into large bubbles, then I flipped the tawa upside down over the open flame to char the bubbles. The resulting garlic butter naan tasted straight out of an authentic tandoor clay oven.

28cm diameter is the perfect sweet spot for standard Indian stoves

Many large tawas are 30cm or 32cm, which overhang neighboring gas burners and crowd out your dal and sabzi pans. This 28cm size gives generous room for full-size dosas and chapatis while staying comfortably inside the burner area. The balance between cooking area and stovetop clearance is ideal.

Heirloom durability - single piece of cast iron that will outlive me

There are no rivets to rust, no hollow handles to fill with dishwater, and no screws that loosen over time. The entire tawa and its dual loop handles are cast as a single solid piece of dense iron. This is the kind of cookware that gets passed down to children and grandchildren with pride.

Stuffed paneer kulchas turned out soft inside with crunchy crust

Cooked spiced paneer kulchas on this tawa with generous dollops of butter. The rimless design allowed me to flip the thick kulcha effortlessly with a broad wooden spatula without breaking the delicate stuffed edges. It browned uniformly into a golden mosaic. My family loved every bite.

Fast weekday mornings - rotis cook in under 45 seconds each

Because the tawa maintains a steady, uniform temperature throughout, each chapati takes barely 20 seconds on side one, 15 seconds on side two, and puffs instantly on direct flame or right on the tawa with a cloth press. I can roll and cook 10 hot chapatis for my family in under 8 minutes.

Rava dosa spreads cleanly without pooling or uneven borders

Rava dosa batter is watery and needs to be splashed across the hot surface. On rimmed pans, excess batter pools into thick rubbery dough near the rim. On this edgeless tawa, the batter sizzles into a uniform, lace-like mesh with crispy holes from center to edge. Best rava dosa I've made at home.

No toxic PTFE fumes when preheated hot for searing

When making chapatis or naan, the tawa needs to be quite hot. On non-stick pans, heating them dry emits that nauseating chemical fume that gives you a headache. With pure cast iron, there are zero synthetic fumes — only the clean, wholesome aroma of hot iron and toasted grain. Pure kitchen peace of mind.

Sourdough flatbreads and pita pockets puff up with steam pockets

I bake sourdough pita breads regularly. Cooking them on this heavy preheated cast iron tawa creates instant bottom oven-spring. The dough inflates into a hollow ball within 60 seconds, creating the perfect pocket for stuffing with falafel and salad. Spectacular heat transfer.

Thalipeeth roasted to crispy perfection with drops of groundnut oil

Made traditional Maharashtrian multigrain thalipeeth loaded with onions, coriander, and sesame seeds. The flat surface allowed me to pat the dough with wet fingers right on the warm tawa and make the five steam holes. It crisped up into a dark golden crust that tasted just like my grandmother's.

Smooth seasoning that keeps getting slicker every week

I've used this tawa daily for six weeks. With every roti and dosa made, the microscopic pores of the iron absorb cooking oils, creating a jet-black, satin-smooth patina. Batter now glides effortlessly across the surface like an ice rink. Cast iron is the only cookware that improves with age.

Smash burgers and grilled sandwiches toasted edge to edge

The flat rimless surface makes this an incredible griddle for smash burgers and club sandwiches. I can press a wide burger press down without hitting an annoying rim, and slide a broad spatula underneath to flip without spilling melted cheese. Multipurpose versatility at its best.

Podi dosa with gun powder and ghee - crunchy restaurant bliss

Spread a thin dosa, sprinkled spicy idli podi generously across the surface, and drizzled melted desi ghee. The cast iron crisped the bottom to a golden lace while the ghee toasted the lentil podi on top. Rolled it cleanly off the rimless edge and served with coconut chutney. Absolute perfection.

2.6kg base stays completely stationary while spreading batter

On cheap lightweight tawas, the whole pan slides across the stove when you swirl the dosa ladle, forcing you to hold the pan handle with one hand while spreading with the other. Because this tawa weighs 2.6kg, it stays anchored to the stove like a boulder. Spreading batter with one hand is effortless.
